Air Filter mod

Here is a Weber Carb filter holder mod. I didn't like those clips they had on them, they are kind of a PITA.

I brazed two nuts to the bottom portion of the holder. loctited threaded rod in there. drilled out the top, and stuck some wingnuts on it. time to do is close to time it took me to scan and write all this up.

the huge rod I used is just happened to match the wingnuts I had laying around, 1/4-20 would be plenty, IMO. I used 5/16-18.

You can see I got it too hot doing it, but its hidden from view. Other methods that may be equally successfull, maybe better, include epoxying the nuts on. Soldering them on. Heck, superglue works awesome on clean metal.

Got access to metric rod? I believe the hold down bolts are metric, find threaded rod that size, get two nuts, and two wingnuts. take two kitty-corner bolts out, thread the rod in, run the nut all the way down and tighten to spec. drill out lid, assemble air cleaner, screw on wingnuts. Voila!

Bonus: You can run as tall, or short, of an air filter you want, provided the other dimensions fit. Maybe even find a paper one to fit, for those that like paper.
