FROM THE PRESIDENT’S DESK

Remember not burn before contacting the Florida Forest Service to see if you need a permit. The volunteer fire departments in the county have been quite busy putting out trash fires, woods fires and controlled burns that have gotten out of control. So help your fire departments by being careful when burning. They will certainly appreciate your cooperation.

In the past month your fire department has lost two firefighters that moved away because of their employment. We also had two firefighters move to Quincy. They are still responding with Wetumpka but we're in need of new firefighters, especially during the hours of 8am to 5pm. If you know of anyone who would be willing to help out please have them call Frank Dietrich, 627-9010.

Elsewhere in the newsletter you will see where we will be having our annual pilau fund raiser on the 26th of March. In the past we have had the chickens cooked off site. This has turned into a problem, so this year we will cook the chickens at the station. Bo Chason and Alvin Pickles will be our cooks again and they say this method will turn out a better product. If anyone would like to volunteer, please show up at 9:00am for the cake cutting and then at 4:00pm for the serving. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rainey Parramore
