We never imagined that 2004 would be filled with the accomplishments that it held. It has been a whirlwind filled with some spectacular results for Lauren in the Youth Division, Doug in Halter and Barney coming of age in the cart. We are looking forward to 2005.

The Fowlerville County Fair
July 12th & 13th, 2004
Judge: Don Daniels
Boy was it hot and humid for the Fair. There were some very classy hitches there as well. Competition sure was tough and we had excellent placings. Hank had a tough go in Ladies cart. Considering it was his first show ever we are pleased that he settled in after the first couple times round the ring. The first two laps sure were interesting to watch from a spectators view point and Chris did a good job handling him. He did much better in Youth Cart - the class after Ladies Cart. Barney was AWESOME in Cart and Doug held court in the Halter ring.
The Sanalac County Fair
July 30th, 2004
Judge: Jim McKeirnan
Like last year, the Sanalac Fair in Sandusky Michigan is a Hitch only day show. The weather was very pleasant with over cast sky's and sprinkles on and off most of the day. The rain was just enough to keep everyone cool. The competition was great and a fun time was had by all.
The Saginaw County Fair
August 1st - 4th, 2004
I totally forgot to get the Judges name at this show. It was interesting being in a circus type tent but it worked out all right. This fair moved its location 3 years ago and they are still working on getting things in order. This is the first time in 4 years that we have gone back and I'm glad we did. We finally got to hook the unicorn and we couldn't be prouder of how well they worked at the first real go in the show ring. Hank was an absolutely perfect lead horse and is a total gem (Huge bear hug for the little guy).
The Huron County Fair
August 11th - 14th, 2004
The number of horses and competitor's that were in attendance made it one of the largest county fairs this year. We took our home bred Percheron cross yearling to show in a division for draft crosses and other breed draft horses (not Belgians and Percherons) and not only did she win the yearling class but she also won Jr. Champion and Grand Champion of the division. The gelding halter glass was huge for a county fair with 17 entries and they were all nice horses. Barney didn't place but Doug did well placing 3rd. Hank was great in the lead of the Unicorn and of course Doug and Barney were wonderful as always.
The Genesee County Fair
August 15th - 18th, 2004
Judge: W.D. Smith
Genesee continues to be a great show for us. We always seem to reach our goals at this show which makes for a very thrilling week. This years goal was to get our team and unicorn going well and there is no doubt that it finally has. The unicorn in particular has been Duane's weak area and while he didn't win this class at Genesee there was much improvement. Lauren is really getting it together in the ring as well.
The Michigan State Fair
August 19th - 22nd, 2004
There were a number of highs and lows at the State Fair. We have worked really hard this year to put it all together for this show and we did do a very good job and were very pleased with the Men's Cart and Youth classes. Ladies cart was another story, while I was pleased with the go it just lacked the extra umph required at this level to make the grade. We lost a shoe in the team class which ended our showing at that point so we didn't make it for the team or unicorn class. Lauren had one heck of a ride in the youth team class and we are super proud of her accomplishments this year.
The Michigan Great Lakes International
October 14th - 17th, 2004
This show is the highlight of the year. The class of horses is outstanding and we were very happy with our placings. Sam did excellent in the Youth classes and Barney has proven to be a really good horse for us in harness. We made new friends, had a great time and look forward to next year.
