 Controlled burning is very useful in prairie management.  Prior to Herbicide Spraying it can burn up all the ground chaff so that the spray can penetrate to soil surface where it can kill even the youngest shoots which could otherwise hide in the chaff from last year          

After prairie establishment, burning suppresses cold weather grasses, burns off weed seeds, kills early annuals, stimulates prairie seed germination and adds minerals and fertilizer to the soil

Pricing depends on acres burned, number of people involved, specific equipment used, distance and time involved.  Hourly rate per person with basic equipment is $25
