MERIDIAN NAMED STOP FOR GOOD WILL TRAIN
"Know Mississippi Better" Trip Will Begin July 13

MERIDIAN, Miss., March 15. - Meridian will be
the first stop of the 1947 "Know Mississippi Better Train" which leaves
Jackson July 13 for a tour of the North and East into Canada.
The fammous train will arrive here at 3:30 p.m. July 13 and will leave
at 4 p.m. Included in the itinerary are Birmingham, Atlanta, Spartanburg
and Gastonia, N.C., Baltimore, Trenton, N.J., New York, Albany, N.Y., Plattsburg,
N.Y., Montreal, Quebec, Halifax, Ottawa, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Cincinnati,
Louisville, Memphis and other cities.
Former Governor Dennis Murphree, chairman, says
this year's trip promised to be the best since it was inaugurated in 1925.
One of the highlights of the program will be a 20-mile
trip across the Straits of Northumberland to Borden on Prince Edward Island,
where a special coach train will be waiting to take the Mississippi party
50 miles down the island to Charlottetown, the capitol of Price Edward
Island Province.
The train will return to Jackson July 25.
