Cornucopia Yacht Club

location:  Cornucopia
non-existent exclusivity

This organization, created by Hale O'Malley, had plenty of  members, but no yachts.

"...created the Cornucopia Yacht Club, an organization initially composed of just the two founders and whose sole purpose was to gain the traveling O’Malleys entrance to better marina facilities while sailing in far-off waters. Roger O’Malley thought the idea was so good that he ordered a supply of application forms for new members, and proceeded to sign up almost everyone he knew. Membership cost $2, and all dues went to put on an annual members’ party at Bark Bay, where food and drinks were free. At its peak, the club listed over 700 members, coming from all over the region."

"Ghosts of America" Haunted Location Reports
(take with a grain of salt)

ghosts
location:  statewide

The reports on this site are presumably fiction, using random Wisconsin place names in the stories listed there.  Even so, you might get a kick out of reading them.

"A shape with a skeleton face having on gloomy robes has now and then been noticed smoking a pipe in Apostle Islands National Lakeshore near the ranger station. If you talk to the local residents, this ghost enjoys scaring foolhardy folks who have the courage to disturb the serenity in Bayfield."
