Download Board Warfare version BW50. - Last change 9/21/2002
Changed graphics to VESA, higher screen resolution, improved terrain appearance. Replaced the sound software. Will NOT run with Windows XP.


Installation

Click the Download button above.  

BW60:
Copy or download the tar file BW60.tar.gz into a
directory or folder of your choice.  For example /temp

cd /temp
unzip the tarfile
gzip -d BW60.tar.gz
extract the game from the tarfile

tar -xf BW60.tar

This will extract the game into a directory named "bw" inside the directory
where you extacted the tarfile.

Older Windows Versions BW42 and BW50:  
Internet Exporer users may select to run the program from the current location 
which will launch the installation program automatically. 
-or-
Copy or download the installation file bw42install.exe into an empty directory
or folder of your choice.  For example c:\temp

Then extract the files for Board Warfare by clicking on the bw42install.exe icon
if you are using windows explorer.  DOS users extract the files by keying
in bw42install.exe from within the directory where you copied or installed the
file.

Starting the game

BW60:
from a terminal on your linux display
cd /temp/bw
./bw.sh
or to skip the introduction demo
./bw


Older Versions, for windows, BW42 and BW50 are no longer supported.
Board Warfare 42 and 50 are DOS applications but can be played from Windows 95, 98, ME.
The installation program creates shortcuts in your start menu for Board Warfare.
Use the start menu to run board warfare, bw.exe, from the folder you selected for 
the shortcut to be placed duringinstallaion.

Using Windows Explorer change to the folder where you installed Board
Warfare.  Double click on the icon for bw.exe.  This should launch an MS-
DOS shell and start the game.  When you quit the game the MS-DOS shell
should close also.  Also one may use the shortcut to the game placed on your desktop.
Alternatively:
1. From the Taskbar choose [start] then [programs] then [MS-DOS Prompt]
2.   Change to the directory where you extracted the game. CD c:\BW
3.   Start the game by typing in bw.  C:\BW> BW
4. After quitting the game close the MS-DOS shell by typing in exit.
Other users:
1. From a DOS prompt change to the directory where you extracted the game.
   CD c:\BW
2.   Start the game by typing in bw.  C:\BW> BW
3. After quitting the game close the MS-DOS shell by typing in exit.

Play the game in full screen.  Playing in a window will result in poor
graphics and slower play.
