I developed and implemented TNA's marketing
plan and communications program. TNA's mission is to promote and protect the
Registered Nurse (RN) and to advance the nursing practice to assure a healthier
Tennessee. My TNA duties included:
 | Planning and implementing yearly meetings
and events |
 | Creating the company's annual report to the
TNA Board of Directors. |
 | Supervising two full-time employees: the
communications coordinator and the membership coordinator |
 | Creating and maintaining the organization's
Internet site |
TNA Meeting Planning
I coordinated all aspects of meeting planning
for TNA. These tasks included the following:
 | Working with TNA committees to define the
scope of events |
 | Locating speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors |
 | Working with TNA staff to ensure the
creation of all documentation |
 | Promoting events on TNA's Web site |
 | Collecting materials and recording events
for eventual translation into "Virtual Events" on TNA's Web site |
 | Working with all vendors and facility
managers |
The Tennessee Nurse Magazine
I managed the Tennessee Nurse magazine from
October 2001 to February 2002. Editorial and production duties included:
 | Working with TNA's publisher (Leading Edge
Communications) to deliver all editorial content and images |
 | Working with all writers to generate story
ideas and edit submissions |
 | Working with internal staff to gather all
collateral material for the publication |
TNA's Web Site
TNA's Web site is the cornerstone of the
company's marketing initiative because it requires a minimal financial
investment while reaching the widest audience. As a result, after the February
2002 issue of the Tennessee Nurse magazine, my duties shifted toward the Web
site. My responsibilities included:
 | Working with the service provider to allow
secure transactions for all TNA events |
 | Creating and maintaining all HTML for the
Web site |
 | Capturing all aspects of TNA events for
"Virtual Events" on the Internet site |
 | Using the Web site to communicate the
organization's mission to its members |
 | Working with the TNA lobbyist to inform
members of all Tennessee State Legislature bills and events |
