Jim's Astronomy
Mr. Jim Hardy.
Cluster of Stars called M13, In color too.
Some of the things I have here
are a Canon Digital Rebel D400. I
am learning to use the camera and
so is the computer. I can take an
untold number of exposures at 30
seconds each and stack them to
get deep space photo's. More on
this later as I learn to use it.
The Telescopes are a Celestron
9.250 inch Schmidt Cassegrain on
a Losmandy G11 with Gemini. On
this are mounted a small 80mm
refractor that I built from a kit
at Stellarvue but isn't available
anymore. It was almost like
starting from scratch to build
the thing. I also have a ten inch
Orion Newtonian on a LXD75 mount
from Meade with Orion tube rings.
and, the autostar computer from
Meade for hookup to the computer
too.
The radio astronomy setup has a
parabolic for the ittybitty
telescope called the IBT and
IBIRT is an interferometer I
built myself and experimented
with. The software from SBIG for
the SBIG ST-6b are the Sky6-Pro
and CCDSoft-5 and CCDops. I have
Orchestrate for scripted
operations.
Also, have Gemini and Automapping programs which interlock with the software to show the mapping for tracking objects
and so on. It's pretty enormous for me. I will post some pictures I take with the CCD Imagers. I have the Meade DSI or
deepspace imager in color as well as the same in black and white. I also have a small imager for planetary work but
havn't used it. I've used the Meade imagers just to see how they work. I'm in the middle of a move and the observatory
is shut down for the move as of Thursday August 7th, 2008. See you on the other side so to speak.
