Life and work on the Blue Ridge

Saluda, N.C., sits in the southeastern corner of western North Carolina, close enough to the action in Asheville, N.C., and Greenville, S.C. — as well as a reliable high-speed Internet connection — but far enough away to offer all the benefits of country living.

Since moving here in 2005, my freelance career has continued to find new outlets for my work, particularly with web-based publications, including SEED and Science & Spirit magazines. I also served as acting publications manager for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) in Asheville.

From my home office I remain an active partner in Westhawk Associates, creating websites, annual reports and other communications products. The PBTF also continues to contract my services, and I have built a loyal following for my blog, "The Island of Doubt," on SEED magazine's scienceblogs.com.
