Dolphin Days

Costa Rica was the ideal followup to my term as editor of the most northerly newspaper on the continent (See Inuvik). For two weeks I played the role of research assistant in an Earthwatch-funded study of the bottlenose dolphins of Golfo Duce, a protected bay on the Pacific coast of the country.

Nine years later, I received a degree in marine biology from the University of British Columbia, an education inspired by my experience in Costa Rica. Since then I have written a series of reports on marine mammals of Canada's arctic and keep a close on my whale and dolphin-related conservation issues.
