Here's a question to give some serious thought to. If someone told you they had a job open, a job that involved a lot or hard work, spending hours in training classes, maintaining equipment, getting called out at all hours in nasty weather, having to raise much of the money to pay for your own equipment and supplies, and even putting your very life on the line... would you take it?
Some might say it would depend on the salary.
How about if the salary was nothing? That's right zilch, zero, zip.... this is a volunteer job, take it or leave it. No pay, no fringe benefits, no vacations, no retirement.
At that point, most folks would probably leave on the run ... hollering like a hit hound dog.
Thankfully, Choctaw County is blessed to have one of the finest and most dedicated groups of men and women on the face of God's green earth on whom we can depend when our lives and properties are threatened -- those special people whom we call our Volunteer Fire Fighters.
