08/29/04 --- *ADDED 4 PHOTO SETS * Bela now has 2 little teeth!! Finally some rest for Mama and Dada after all that tooth cutting late at night! Bela can also crawl EVERYWHERE and she can stand up on her own with the help of some furniture. It's definitely baby proofing time around here. On Moday Bela starts at her new day care on the West side. Still La Petite Academy, but much closer to mama's work and Grandma's house. She might be teething too since she puts everything in her mouth - including her feet... Bela went to her first Brewers game on 4/10/04. She had a great time hanging out with her Grandma Erickson, her cousins Kathryn, Daphnie and Libby, and her Aunt Bonnie and Uncles Steve B. and Steve E.. She was especially fascinated by the sounds of the crowds and the players on the field. The Brewers are now officially 1-0 when Bela attends games. 04/04/04 --- *ADDED 1 PHOTO SET * Happy Easter from Bela! 04/02/04 --- *ADDED 1 PHOTO SET * Had fun today visiting Auntie Jess and Grandma Sue! Bela was so sleepy she must have had a blast! Had fun last night with Grandma and Grandpa KK too. Bela has some awesome relative thats for sure!! Thanks guys! 03/14/04 --- *ADDED 2 PHOTO SETS * HAPPY 18 Uncle Ben! Sorry for the lack of updates but we have all been pretty busy lately. One of these days we will make it over to the store to get the extension cord for the web cam.... ...anyway Bela is doing great - despite the fact that she just got over her second cold in 2 weeks, she is loving the taste of amoxicilin. She also has thrush which is a yeast buildup in the mouth and she is taking medicine for that too, but that stuf isnt as tasy.... Bela can't wait for spring so she can go outside!!! Please Mr. Sping Bunny come hopping along soon! 01/26/04 --- *ADDED 4 PHOTO SETS * CONGRATULATIONS go out to UNCLE BEN (of Jumper Cables fame) who was recently accepted to attend the New York Culinary Institute! We are all very proud of you BEN! Bela says: "Crak-oo globble" (Translated->>'That is so Mint, man') :) We are sure you will do great out there U-B! ...Bela is excited because she can visit U-B in NYC and follow that up by making a west coast swing out to sunny southern CAL to visit the Elgins! Woo-hoo! ...Bela is thinking that maybe next winter would go quicker if we went to California for a break....hmmmm...... ...while you were reading this, The Mighty Monitor Izard became 2% cuter.... ...Bela had a fun time visiting with her Cousin Dillon on Sunday. She was very interested in him and the way he played with the toys - although he was a little shy at first, he warmed up at the end and even said "Buh-Bye" to his little cousin Isabel. Come again soon! 01/17/04 --- *ADDED MUCHO PHOTOS* ...Belly had a great time visiting with her late Great Great Grandma Ruby on the way back to Madison on Christmas, Grandma realy liked hearing the crying and she smiled a bit when she heard it. Must have brought back some fond memories of the scores and scores of babies she had cared for in her day! B liked all the photographs of all the relatives that covered all the walls of Grandmas room. Bela was very glad to meet her Great Great Grandma before she passed and she is looking forward to hearing all the tales that Daddy has to tell of his back-in-the-day babysitting adventures with GG Ruby... ...Bela girl is looking forward to spring! Please no more icy rain she says... ...Unfortunately, the packers fell to the eagles last sunday, so Bela's record as a packer fan is now 7-2. Not bad, but she expects some major changes on the defensive side of the ball next season.... Isabeth has finally found her thumb and she tries to suck it every chance she gets... Sabel can also lay on her tummy in the crawling position with her head held up high and her knees bent. She tries to move but cant get too far just yet.... Mama returns to work on February 1st... :( and Bela will be spending her afternoons @ LaPetite Academy on Dutch Mill Road in Madison...although 'take your daughter to work day" may come sooner and more often than we think..... Iz-B makes a big smile every morning when daddy comes downstairs to surprise her with his bed head... Ichabel Suzuki can stand while being held for about 5 seconds.... she needs to learn how to stay off her tippy toes though.... Ding Dong Bela wants everyone to know that it is only 498 days until the next Star Wars movie comes out... ....Isabel predicts that the Colts will win the Super Bowl - although the only reason for this prediction is because she 'weally weally likes horsies'.... ...Is-"Read Willing and"-Abel loves her new webcam, especially now that daddy added a timestamp, now deena wont be staring at the same picture all night long waiting for her to wake up... just kidding Deena... i think...:) hehe... ...Daddy hears the Taco Bell ringing - he better go answer the call..... 12/23/03 --- *ADDED PHOTOS FROM BELA'S SANTA BABY PHOTO SHOOT* Mama got the Bell dressed up one day and got these awesome shots for the Christmas Season! Great job Mama!!! 12/23/03 --- *ADDED PHOTOS FROM GRANDMA AND GRANDPA ZEMAN'S VISIT* Bela has been growing quickly and we are excited to get her Christmas photos up on the site, but we wanted to wait until everyone gets their Christmas cards first... we had a nice visit with Grandma and Grandpa Zeman over the weekend, Grandpa is going to get a webcam for Isabel which will be able to transmit live images from the crib!! Cool! Thanks Grandpa! ...we will be heading up north for the holidays and Bela gets to meet her Grandma Erickson and her cool Aunt Leticia and Uncle Gary along with special guest Collegian Supercool Snowboarding Queen Cousin Ashley! Bela is very excited to meet her relatives and go thrashing in the snow! 12/13/03 --- *ADDED PHOTOS FROM UNCLE BEN AND ANDY'S SHOW* Well the boys made me bust out my old school grunge gear for the sold out show at the LTC. Daddy was most impressed! Absolutely rockin good! Isabel is glad that she has rock stars for uncles Ben and Andy! 12/06/03 --- *ADDED PHOTOS FROM TRIP TO GRANDMA KATHY'S* *ADDED PHOTOS FROM TRIP TO PEDROS MEXICAN RISTORANTE* Today Isabel made her first trip out to a restaurant of a non-drive thru variety (sorry taco bell). We went to Pedros Mexican Ristorante and met up with the Bergsten's and the Ericksons. After dinner, Isebel got passed around the table counter clockwise to Aunt Bonnie, Cousin Lindsey, Cousin Daphne, and then over to Cousin Libby. Mommy and Daddy got baloons to play with but the baloon maker wishes to remain anonymous so I wont put his name here on the website. He did a good job though. Cousin Libby was nice and gave her ballon to Isabel. Isabel says "grackooooo-sluuuhhh" (Thank you very much C.LIb!) (By the way, Isabel speaks Jive) So everybody in the family went home with a ballon. Daddy will be sure to wear his baloon mohawk to work tommorow. Unless it accidentally pops in the shower or something. Anyway, Isabel had a great time and was happy to meet her 'other' Uncle Steve (thanks for the wreaths!), her Aunto Bonnie (thanks for the baby lotion set and the snuggle suit!), and the two mysterious girls named Kathryn and Daphne who signed her guestbook on the website. Issy was wondering who they were, and now she knows. :) Isabel says big thank-you to Uncle Steve and Aunt Deb and cousins Lindsey and Libby for the dinner treat! We had a fun time and we wil have to do it again sometime soon! We also took a quick trip over to Grandma's and had a little photo shoot on the pool table. Bela was a little fussy on the trip, but she was pretty tired and she had some wet diaper issues too. We ended up with some great shots for the website though! Isabels says "Goookny loo" for the cool presents. She really likes the nice little froggy finger, and the new book with her picture in it! Cool car by the way! "pwookly pwoo!" We will update the weblog soon, but unti lthen check out the new pictures! --- 12/01/03 --- *ADDED PHOTOS FROM KAREN AND KIMMY'S VISIT* --- 11/27/03 --- *ADDED PHOTOS FROM THANKSGIVING @ AUNT Michele & UNCLE ASHLEY'S* Today we spent the afternoon at Auntie Michele and Uncle Ashley's house for thanksgiving! Before we arrived Isabel's record as a Packer fan fell to 2-1. She cried. *NOTE-This might not be related to the Packer loss although Daddy insists* We had a fun time meeting Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Popple. Bella made her way over to Great Grandma's lap right away and started an intense staring competition. Grandma Popple thinks that Bela looks alot like Baby Kathy and Baby Craig. She also says that Aunt Michele was known as "Ma Belle" as a baby (Daddy thinks this is because of Grandma Kathy's teenage obsession with Paul McCartney: "Meee-shell, ma-belle, these are words that go together well..." Right, Mom??) Isabel also got visits from Daddy's cousins Stephanie, Stevie, and Jamie, who offered their congratulations. Isabel and Grace were both names that Jamie had considered for her little baby! Next Izzy moved over to meet Auntie Michele. She was fully entertained and sat contently without the need for her pacifier! Michele used her secret weapon - the 'Aunt Michele Mickey Mouse Voice' - to keep Bela happy. Daddy remembers Auntie Michele using that voice on his brothers when they were little! Speaking of Brothers - Uncle Andy got his chance to hold Baby Zeman for the first time. Andy owes Isabel $2 when she turns 16 - it's a loan that she gave to him for his 16th - payable sans interest over the next16 years. The pic is up in her Thanksgiving photo album. Next Isabel got to visit with Great Grandpa Popple. Grandpa had an open discussion with Izzy and her Mama about the secrets of the universe, everything from 'how the phone works' to the 'miracle of birth'. Bela fell fast asleep, not because she was bored, but because her Mama already explained the universe to her last night when she wouldn't go to sleep! Baby Bell slept for a awhile and then got up to take some photos with her second cousin (Jamie's Third) and say buh-bye to all the relatives. Isabel says "Grehoo. Oahaha. Lub-lub" (It was fun meeting all the family! Thanks Auntie Michele and Uncle Ashley! Thanks for all the cool presents everyone!) We hope to see everone again soon! We 3 had a great time! --- 11/25/03 --- *ADDED GUESTBOOK FOR ALL YOUR COMMENTS!!* *ADDED 2ND SOUND RECORDING - ISABEL'S HICCUP * --- 11/24/03 --- *ADDED 1ST SOUND RECORDING - ISABEL'S HUNGRY CRY * *ADDED FUSSY vs. HAPPY PHOTOS * Our new Clothes Dryer arrived this morning! Its awesome for drying clothes, plus it makes popcorn!! Thanks Steve, Deb, and L & L!! :) (...BTW, it doesnt really make popcorn...) We added some photos to illustrate the difference between Bela's fussy mood and her happy mood. She is usually fussy for 1-2 hours a day, and she is alert and *almost* smiling for another 1-2 hours. NEW OBSERVATIONS: 1) STOMACH COO: When IZ cries out for a second every 2-3 minutes - despite having her pacifier - it means that she is working on some gas. When she gets this way she is soothed by being held or fed until it passes (figuratively and literally). Sometimes this happens when she is sleeping, and when it does she can be calmed by turning on the Vibro-Crib and laying on her side or by running a vacuum and holding her underneath a tent. 2) THE BUBBLER: 9 out of 10 diaper changers agree - exposing a baby's bottom to fresh air causes pee to fly. Seriously, almost everytime we change Isabel she springs a leak. In light of this, we now refer to "changing the baby" in the following form: "Honey, can you go turn on the fountain?" 3) TACO BELA: Its a little known fact that babies can be lulled into a calm and tranquil mood of Joy and Understanding that lasts for hours on end after a delightful warm meal of breastmilk fortified by Chicken Qusadillas© and Double Decker Supremes©. Babies and their Dads bond over the 'festival of flavor' ('Festivál Sabroso' en Español) at The Bell©, and Moms are happy because the nutrients provided by a couple of Nacho Cheese Chalupas© promote strong nail development and belly-button-knot-tighteddness (of course). Some say that a baby can be overexposed to the woody aroma and crisp taste of a flour tortilla, but most Doctors these days agree that the long term benifits of a steady dose of Fire Sauce far outweigh the overdiagnosed and much publicized cases of TDD (Taco Deficit Disorder) that comes during adolesence. --- 11/22/03 --- *ADDED PHOTOS FROM IZZY'S 1ST BATH* --- 11/21/03 --- *ADDED PHOTOS FROM MOM & KEN* Isabel has been pretty fussy the past couple of days - not wanting to go to sleep after her meals. She has been wide awake and interested in everything going on around her and crying from time to time. We have been trying a few things to keep her from crying during these times. She definitely like walking around the house and especially looking at the light fixtures (??). She also like going up to her room and looking at he paintings on the wall. She likes spinning and rocking too. We brought out some christmas lights to give her a little change of pace in some of the rooms, so now she can look at the blue lights in the office, the red lights in the kitchen, and the glow in the dark black light in her room... Yesterday Bela also took her first trip to daddy's work. All the ladies in the office wanted to hold her and she did a great job being passed around, in fact, she was most interested to have some new faces looking at her. --- 11/19/03 --- Yesterday Isabel went on a trip to the Radisson over on the west side. She did a great job in the car and was a great entertainer for everyone at Mom's work. Isabel also had some visitors last night - Grandma Kathy, Grandpa Ken, and Uncle Ben. They brought over some gifts for Issy, including a new rattle and a Winnie the Pooh picture for her wall. Issy says: "Gwahhhh" (TRANSLATION:"Thanks!") Also got some nice pics of Uncle Ben holding issy for the first time. --- 11/18/03 --- Isabel has now started daily "gas exercises" as perscribed by her doctor. The exercises are 1) bicycle kicks with her legs and 2) flying around the room supported by her tummy. The doctor also says that she can use a pacifier but she still wants issy to have the option of taking a bottle after breastfeeding. So, the pumping continues... --- 11/17/03 --- Isabel Grace Zeman was born on November 11th 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin. At birth she was 7 lbs. 15 oz. and she was 19 1/2 inches long. She has a full head of dark hair and beautiful blue eyes. On Isabel's birthday, Judy began the day with mild contractions at 7AM. By 11AM they were much stronger and only 3 1/2 minutes apart. We arrived at the hospital at 11:30 AM and we were pushing by 2PM. Isabel Grace was born at 3:06PM. We stayed for 2 nights at St. Mary's Hospital and brought the baby home on the 13th of November. --- The first night in the hospital was very interesting. Young Isabel, it seems, had not yet learned how to sleep. So after much poking and prodding we finally taught her this skill and she was fast asleep at 3AM. --- |
