Sheep

Its lambing time again!  What a delight to watch moms and babies.

Katahdins

Katahdins are a hair sheep breed, which means they don't have wool.  They grow a thick coat for the winter and shed out during the spring, eliminating the need for shearing.  They are a smaller, hardy meat breed that do well on pasture. They are easy to handle, and the ewes are excellent mothers.  The meat is mild flavored, lean and tender.

Border Leicesters

We have registered white and natural colored Border Leicesters.  They have beautiful long fleece that is a favorite of handspinners.  They are a laid back breed, which makes them easy to handle, and their fleece has a variety of uses.  Like the Katahdins the ewes are excellent mothers, with twins being the norm.
We don't show our leicesters in the breed ring as we feel that once a person starts trying to breed for what will win in the breed ring, the original attributes of that breed is lost.  We breed for quality fleece with nice crimp and lots of luster, plus one that can produce quality market lambs.
