Waldo does more than
clown around with kids

When Waldo speaks . . . people listen.

Little people, mostly.

Waldo is a Boone County clown who travels far and wide giving kids a message that is anything but "clownish."

In addition to making the little folk laugh, Steve Walden . . . a/k/a Waldo the Clown, impresses them with a very important message: "You are important."

A resident of the Lebanon area since 1984, Walden wants the kids to believe in themselves and he stresses how they can be real friends with others.

A graduate of Lincoln Christian College and Clown Camp (the world's largest instructional program for non-circus clowns), Walden now is a full-time entertainer. In his Midwestern travels, he presents programs to schools, churches, libraries, festivals, daycare centers and other groups and also holds workshops in humor for adults. He works with 4-H groups and does a large number of birthday parties.

"I love being able to make people laugh," he says, "And I want to communicate important truths with people." Being "Waldo the Clown" allows him to do both.

But more than being merely an entertainer, Waldo wants to leave his groups with something to think about . . . how they can be better people . . . how they can think better of themselves.

Wednesday, Waldo will be performing for the Perry-Worth Elementary School children for two different holiday shows. In addition to this being his job, it'll be a neighborly thing to do. Walden resides at 5225 S. 200 E. in Boone County.
