Stuff for Sale
Thank you for your interest. Because the web space for my homepage is provided free of charge from TDSNET, I am not allowed to utilize it for commercial purposes. If you are interested in purchasing my work or just looking at it, there are pieces scattered throughout the area in gift shops including the Presque Isle Station Gallery in Marquette, the gift shop in the basement of the Peter White Library in Marquette, the Falling Rock Cafe in Munising, the Munising Wood Products Gift Shop in Munising, and the Brownstone Inn Restaurant in Au Train, Michigan.
Nearly everything I forge is one-of-a-kind and therefore unique. Many items are made from materials that are also unique. For example, I made a bottle opener from a railroad spike I retrieved from the old grade that led to the ore dock in downtown Marquette after the tracks were pulled up during the summer of 2001. The spike, the only one I found, is small and made of wrought iron, the type of spike used in the first tracks before they were replaced by heavier track with larger spikes. "Wrought iron" itself is rare. It was the first kind of iron smelted until the invention of modern methods of making steel and is very low in carbon. It is no longer commercially available. The spike from which I made the bottle opener may have been composed of iron mined from the Marquette Range and smelted in one of the old furnaces that used to be spotted along the Lake Superior shoreline from Big Bay to Munising during the 1800's.
All my work is created utilizing traditional blacksmithing methods in an attempt to apply the techniques invented and practiced by humans to shape iron ever since it's discovery. It's harder and slower that way, but I like the results. I hope you do, too.
